Performance has recently started working with a local charity in the Kingston area, TAG Youth Club. Founded in 2000, Giles Hobart wanted to create a safe and engaging environment for disabled young people to meet up with their friends, take part in activities as well as learn valuable social and life skills.
17 years on, TAG Youth Club has successfully provided 15-25 year olds with fun-filled Friday nights every week to enjoy with their friends. Due a growing number of members, TAG has also recently launched a Junior Club for 10-15 year olds which meets on alternate Fridays.
The team at Performance get thoroughly stuck in helping the club with their activity nights. TAG has a passion to create fun accessible activities that even those with profound disabilities can take part in and enjoy. Themed nights include ‘The Tag Factor’ and ‘Hit the beach’, a themed evening where a sandpit beach was created, complete with deck chairs and inflatable boats. As well as creating fun activities, TAG also gets hands on with arts and crafts and teaching members life skills such as money management.
Performance wanted to focus on giving something back to the local community, therefore to offer our support, we help with many aspects of the charity such as assisting with content creating for the website, fundraising through raffle ticket selling as well as providing volunteers on a Friday night after work.
