Ben Foden heads back to University with Multipower
To drive Multipower brand awareness and excite activity amongst grassroots rugby clubs Performance Communications placed a social media mechanic at the heart of its recent PR activity with Northampton and England Rugby player, Ben Foden.
A Facebook competition to win an exclusive training session with England’s No.1 full-back encouraged fans to enter by explaining why their team deserved to win the session and then secure the maximum number of online votes by rallying their friends and team mates’ digital communities.
The winning team, Essex University Rugby Club, collected over 200 votes to beat off stiff competition from 40 other clubs. Over 50 squad members, more than double that were expected, turned up for the session where Ben focused on improving the all important finishing skills of the club. The day also featured an insightful Q&A with Ben and a nutrition session led by Multipower’s nutrionist Drew Price.
Regular Facebook activity and Ben’s tweets to his 100,000+ followers helped add over 750 new likes, increase visits to the Multipower website by a third and double the levels of engagement within Multipower’s Facebook community.
In addition the event attracted media interest including coverage in the Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Metro, Sky Sports, The Rugby Club and a variety of regional newspapers.
