The Performance Communications Sports Team has started 2012 with a bang, travelling up and down the country to run a series of media master class events for Alfa Romeo, official car supplier to UK Athletics.
We kicked off with a trip to Wigan to meet Jenny Meadows (800m), then headed onto Nottingham for Andy Turner (110m hurdles) and then to Middlesbrough for Chris Tomlinson (Long Jump).We also had time to go to Northampton to help 1500m World Championship silver medallist, Hannah England, learn to drive.
On Wednesday last week we took a trip to Manchester for a master class with Britain’s pole vault sensation, Holly Bleasdale. Holly, 20, only picked up a pole for the first time three and a half years ago and is now the fourth greatest female pole-vaulter of all time, following a jump of 4.87 metres in France last month.
The event saw journalists learn to pole vault following expert tuition from Holly and her coach, Julien Raffalli. Coverage has already appeared in the Daily Telegraph, The Times, Metro, Daily Mirror, Independent, i and is scheduled for a ‘How To…’ feature on Sky Sports News in the coming weeks.
